From Jackie Victor (now Cattani).
I heard about you from Beverly (Walker) BenSalem -- we were together in
Margarita. (1964-66). My name, then, was Jacqueline Victor (now Cattani). My
first assignment was in Tachira (Medicatura Rural in San Rafael del Pinal) with
Doris Vincent. I was then re-assigned to Margarita where Beverly and I did
Rural Community Development in Las Casitas and Las Hernandez. I actually stayed
in Margarita until 1970 when my husband and I moved to California. I am now
Professor of Tropical Public Health at the University of South Florida in Tampa
(e-mail: jcattani@hsc.usf.edu) after having spent 9 years with the World Health
Organization in Geneva.

I'm not sure whether our group would merit a page---we had a tremendous
"selected out" rate during training in Albuquerque and, by the end of
2 years incountry there were only a few people left (sort of a precursor to the
current hit show "Survivor"!!
I noticed the name of Patricia Garcia on your list, who was just leaving
Margarita when I arrived. I'm in close touch with only one person from our
group---Jackie Catanni. Another one, John Hogan (who was deep in the Orinoco
Delta as a volunteer) rose high in the ranks of Peace Corps/Washington
Staff---was acting director from time to time. He has retired now and lives in
Washington DC. I'm due to attend a seminar at which he's presenting ideas re
the importance of respecting religion and culture while conducting
"development" projects and will find out if he's interested in learning
more about arepita, etc.
Actually, some of the most interesting people in our group quit before the time
was up. I've tried in vain for years to find Joan and Fred Brown in the San
Francisco Bay area, who were with me for a while in Margarita.
Also lost and waiting to be found is Eric Reuther , who was in Cumana.
